Of Mice and Men Theme

Everyone has a dream. But just having a dream doesn't cut it. You have to dream big. Your dreams have to take you to a place you never want to leave. In Of Mice and Men everyone had a dream form Lennie to Curley's wife.

George and Lennie had been dreaming the whole book. Their dream was to live on a farm. They would live off the the fatta the land and Lennie would get to tend to the rabbits. They also included Od Candy in their dream after he told them he had half the money to help pay for the farm. But the dream quickly ended when George had to take away Lennie's life for him killing someone.

Curley’s wife was dreming. Her dream was to meet a man that would one day sweep her off her feet and take her to Hollywood. When she was in Hollywood she would become a showgirl or a movie star. But her drem never came true. It ended when she married Curley and really ended when she was killed.

Some dreams fade over time but not mine. My dream is to be a famous sports agent. If you dream big and live your life then it may come true.

Of Mice and Men Symbolism(Grade This)

Can a puppy represent a dream? In “Of Mice and Men" Lennie, a mentally retarded man, receives a just born puppy from his fellow workman. Lennie rubbed the pup to hard and it died right in the ill man’s hand. The symbolism of the puppy is that dreams will die if you’re not patient, willing and faithful.

Loneliness came over Lennie at times when his work was done and the other men were talking about things he couldn’t comprehend. He didn’t know what to do with himself, so he would pet soft things; that was a hobby for him. When a fellow workman named Slim, Slim’s dog had puppies and he gave one to Lennie. Slim told Lennie he had to wait a couple of weeks before Lennie could play with the pup rough and outside of the barn, away from the pups mother. But the mentally retarded man had a mind of a child so he didn’t have patience so he tried taking the puppy out of the barn and he pet it to rough.

Willingness was not a problem for Lennie. He was ready to do something voluntarily when it was in his favor. When Slim and the other men found out the Lennie were bringing the pup in the bunk house, Slim said he could rub the puppy only gently until the pup develops fully and properly. So did exactly what Slim said to do but Lennie was just too strong for the pup's welfare. I guess be willing is great but you have to have something to back it up, but what can it be?

Faith is the most essential thing to life. If you don’t have faith then you can never get anywhere. That’s the answer, to be patient and willing you have to be faithful to your dreams. Lennie had faith that his new pup was going to grow up healthy and strong. He had faith that if he did what Slim told him to do with the pup, then Lennie’s dream; I mean puppy live a happy life with Lennie. Wow, how powerful is faith?

Patience, willingness and faith have to all be there to achieve goals or to have your dreams come to reality. Being patient is in your mind, willingness is your strengths and faith lies in your heart. Without those three things, dreams will never be possible to accomplish. Lennie’s pup shows that dreams are possible but you have to have those three essential things to have success. You don’t have to kill a person or animal to know that your dreams can one day come true if you don’t pet them too hard.

Service Learning

Service learning is a philosophy, pedagogy, and model for community developement that is used as an instructional strategy to meet learning goals and/or content standards. It is required by the School District of Philadelphia that each high school senior complete 120 hours of community service by the end of 12th grade. We complete this service through a program called service learning in my school each year. This year for service learning I am working with Ms. Klose on a fundred Dollar Bill project. This project helps aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. Scientists are trying to find a way to make the soil in Louisiana safe again. During and after the Hurricane the soil in Louisiana was heavily polluted. It is dangerous to drink the water in certain parts of the state and to eat the food grown in the polluted soil. Scientist are trying to restore safety for the residents of Louisiana and get things almost back to normal.

Superdelegates

A superdelegate is a party leader or elected public official chosen as an uncommitted delegate to a national political convention. There a few pros to superdelegates and some cons. They have a big impact on which candidate the Democrats nominate to run for president. In the 2008 primary season. another con is that the Democratic superdelegates could use their status to choose a candidate, instead of supporting the one ahead in the popular vote.

McCain's Seven Steps to Beating Obama

If McCain has to find seven ways to beat Obama it means to me that he is not the right president for our country. While it is taking him sven different ways to beat Obama, Obama has one. All Obama has to do is pair up with Hilary Clinton and they will take over 75% of the country's vote. But if Obama works alone without Clinton then I belive McCains steps will work and he will defeat Obama.
